about

My name is Tammy Hannaford.

I grew up in Rigolet, Nunatsiavut — an isolated Inuit community of about 300 people on the north coast of Labrador.

Today I live in rural Ontario with my husband and four children. While I love our life here, my  connection to my home remains central to who I am and to the work I create.

My father is an Inuk from Rigolet, and my mother came to the community as a nurse in the late 1970s. From them, I learned resilience, creativity, work ethic, and care — qualities that shape both my life and my art.

My children return north often to learn from their grandparents — hunting, gathering, and absorbing traditional knowledge. That matters deeply to me.

I work with antler and resin, preserving pressed florals within natural materials. My work is rooted in land, lineage, and the quiet strength of the North.

I left a job in banking to build a creative life at home with my family. I feel fortunate to create work that connects people to something lasting.

Thank you for being here.
